The ✸ why ✸ behind Mamas Who Dream
I am a constant dreamer, explorer and creator who has a toddler. Though young in age, my toddler and I embody creativity, passion, curiosity and play. When I became a mom, I felt nervous about how to juggle my own passions while fostering the light and creativity within my daughter. I also felt alone and isolated.
For over 8 years, I have been creating community, organizing events and traveling. I started MWD for 2 special reasons: I have experienced how travel and adventuring can lack inclusivity. I understand how important it is to have a community of fellow creative parents that are validating and affirming.

There is no one doing retreats like MWD and I know why.
Ultimately, I know how important it is to try and find joy when things get scrappy and I want that for others.
This retreat will not solve everything and it is not a superficial idea of choosing joy in response to the many structural and cultural issues moms of color face. Though, this retreat does provide respite and a community to commiserate and create with.
Until you truly understand how creativity, travel, income, parenting, race, gender, and community all come together and impact personhood and livelihood, you cannot create an accessible space for parents of color to explore, dream, and create freely and vulnerably.
I know and I understand.
